Gemma and Chris knew of each other from school and became a couple after their paths crossed later on. “I waited for Gemma to be single and then messaged her via Facebook,” Chris tells us. “We spoke for a few weeks before meeting and have been inseparable since.” Chris proposed on Christmas Day in 2020. “It meant so much to me because he involved our son, Jack in the big event,” Gemma tells us. “Chris gave me my Christmas card and as I was reading it, with the proposal written inside, Chris and Jack got down on one knee and Chris asked me to marry him! It was a wonderful moment that I’ll never forget.” SETTING THE SCENE The couple fell in love with The Horn of Plenty as soon as they first visited the hotel. “It offers a wonderful homely feel and the house and grounds look amazing,” they tell us. “We knew that if it was bright sunshine on our big day, or pouring down with rain, the venue would still look beautiful and the team who work there were lovely to us.” Gemma and Chris had an idea of how they wanted their ceremony to look and flowers were a main factor in the decoration. “I wanted wild varieties in green and white, plus a statement floral archway draped in blooms,” Gemma tells us. “We found the talented florist Mili Fleur who did an amazing job – we were both blown away with how stunning the floral 25 REAL WEDDINGS
