During the evening, I wore a different sequinned gown with a matching cardigan, a sequin festival-style hat and a pair of Converse trainers. I gave light-up floral headbands to all of the women to wear during the evening.” Ed wore a cobalt blue suit teamed with a pink tie while his ushers wore matching navy waistcoats with pink ties and a pair of black or blue trousers and his best man wore a navy suit. “During the evening, Ed wore a pair of cowboy boots and a cowboy ten-gallon hat,” Jess says. “He also gave colourful patterned waistcoats to his ushers, groomsmen and best man and a trilby hat to both of our dads. His brother, Mark, wore his blue suit and all of the men in the wedding party had blue thistle buttonholes.” Jess’s maid-of-honour, Imogen, was pregnant so she wore a dusky pink maternity dress that was different to their two bridesmaids, Hettie and Amy who wore light-blue dresses. TIME TO CELEBRATE At the beginning of the day, Ed, along with his ushers and best man made a surprise movie for Jess. “I was presented with this video of Ed dancing down the aisle in his budgie smugglers mouthing words to a love song!” she tells us. “During the drinks reception, musician Sam Dowden performed again while their guests enjoyed garden games on the lawn. “There’s a games barn on-site where everybody could win prizes. We even had a tug-of-war competition with my bridal party against Ed’s and my team won!” Jess tells us. Ed had previously decided to ride the owner’s horse during the afternoon. “I had thought Heather might have declined but she reminded me that she rarely says no to requests!” Jess says. “So, Ed ended up on Gato whilst people cheered him on, hence the cowboy hat and boots!” The couple’s first dance was improvised to the song In My Life by The Beetles. “We then had a band and DJ playing until the early hours. Everybody loved it and we were told many times that it was the best wedding that people had ever been to!” Images courtesy of Faye Mendes Photography Top tip: “Allow time for breaks together throughout the day and make sure that you’re there for each other. Most importantly, it’s your wedding so do it your way!” - Jess and Ed “We had some great suppliers including the videographer, Charlotte Dart, who was fantastic and so supportive. Our three photographers, Georgie, Hettie (who is my sister and bridesmaid) and Faye were great at making us feel at ease. Our hair and make-up ladies, Terri and Anna, were awesome and so accommodating!” - Jess and Ed 30
