TOTNES GUILDHALL The Guildhall is a historical building tucked away on the cobbled streets of The Ramparts area of Totnes. Distinctive pillars support the loggia which overlooks St Mary’s church whilst Totnes Castle can be seen nearby. Steeped in more than 1000 years of history, the Guildhall was originally part of the medieval priory, but more recently it has been used as the town gaol as well as a courtroom (up to 1974) and town Guildhall. Ceremonies take place for up to 70 guests in the Main Chamber, the Council Chamber or the Mayor’s Parlour. All of the original features of the old courtroom are on display, as well as a board with the names of all the mayors in Totnes dating back to 1359. Ceremony licence?
