Your Cheshire and Merseyside Wedding - March/April 2025 (Issue 80)

We had lots of entertainment throughout the day, starting with a violinist who played the Harry Potter theme, among other pieces, during the ceremony. Then, in keeping with the magical theme, we booked a magician to entertain guests during the canapés and cocktails, while a duo performed an acoustic set. We had a Harry Potter themed cake too, topped with a mini Hogwarts model made on a 3D printer. It included light box tiers to make it look extra magical; along with a snitch and wand it bore our names in the style of the Marauder’s map. The centrepieces featured flowers and candles. The blooms on each table were chosen to complement the colour of each house, red, green, yellow and blue. We decorated the venue’s Christmas tree with Harry Potter ornaments. Since the venue was decked in trees, lights and hanging decor we didn’t need to do too much more. We had the ceremony room dressed in a white carpet with rose petals, lanterns and chair swags to mirror our own houses – Gryffindor and Hufflepuff. Our banqueting tables were named Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin with the top table being the teachers and headmaster’s table. We used in-house caterers Stableyard Catering for our wedding breakfast. We enjoyed a smokehouse sharing style main course, allowing people to grab as much as they wanted of various items. We followed this with three miniature desserts each. Lovely canapés were served to start and we all tucked in to a carvery later in the evening. 32
