I’ve probably said, “This season is my favourite,” about all of them at some point, but hear me out! Springtime has to be the pinnacle when it comes to weddings. First, there’s the symbolism of new life that Easter brings. You’re about to embark upon your own new life together and the possibilities of reflecting that throughout your nuptials, thanks to Mother Nature, are abundant. This brings me onto sustainability. As any florist worth their salt will tell you, one of the major ways to protect the environment when it comes to your flowers is to choose locally-grown blooms in season at the time of your wedding. Looking at the best of British, the spring offers you a playground of varieties oh-so perfect for weddings, beautifully fragranced, delicate, romantic and colourful. Picture your centrepieces and bouquet bursting with tulips, bluebells, roses, daffodils, a stunning array of wildflowers, and later in the season the burgeoningly popular peony. Yes please! Speaking of the country’s glorious seasons, we also let them guide our way in this year’s cake feature. Here, some of the region’s talented wedding cake designers present you with showstopping bakes that reflect each season. Adorned in delicate sugar flowers, intricate textures and fitting palettes, they’re sure to impress. With plenty more wedspiration this issue from jewellery to venues, finishing touches to real weddings I encourage you not to miss a single page! Enjoy and keeeep planning! LOVE IN lavender Megan and Tom styled their day in a fitting springtime floral palette Images courtesy of Sarah Brookes Photography 22

Megan and Tom met at work and immediately felt comfortable around each other. They soon became fast friends having discovered plenty of mutual interests. “Mostly, we made each other laugh and really happy,” Megan says. Tom proposed to Megan in August 2022, while on a family holiday in Spain. “We were all out together enjoying a meal and Tom suddenly dropped to one knee. I’m not sure it was the most romantic of settings, but it was a surprise and felt very special having our family with us to celebrate,” Megan shares. The couple viewed a number of venues before they decided on Cranage Estate. “I felt it ticked all the boxes for us,” Megan explains. “It’s a beautiful building outside and in, the grounds are lovely, the function room was the right size for us, and most importantly, there were plenty of guest rooms meaning our family and friends could stay overnight.” The date was set for 7th April 2024. Here, the bride shares the story of the big day... SETTING THE SCENE Early on during the planning process, Megan was looking at save-the-date cards when she found herself attracted to a lavender themed version, and from there decided to roll with it as the palette for the whole wedding. The bouquets featured a mix of greenery, white, deep purple, lavender and light blue hues, which showcased the springtime vibe. The groomsmen all wore similar flowers as buttonholes. Sprigs of lavender were also tucked into the chair sashes on the chair backs, while large lanterns adorned the aisle. The couple’s florist, Caroline from Flowers at Dutch Barn, created some smaller bunches of blooms to be used on each of the tables as part of the centrepieces, which the couple organised themselves. They hired logs from Caroline and added vases of flowers to them with tea lights and jars full of fairylights. Table names were based on the many pubs the two have frequented over the years of their relationship. Meanwhile, the wedding favours were little bags of sweets put together by Megan and sealed with a personalised sticker bearing the couple’s initials from Etsy. They must have a sweet tooth, as they also hired a sweet cart for the evening, which we’re told went down a treat! The big-day bake was designed and made by Nicola at Boutique Bakery following the lavender theme using the palette and flowers provided by Caroline for decoration. “It looked brilliant and, most importantly, tasted amazing,” Megan shares. LOOKING THE PART Megan found her dress at The Bridal Lounge. “It was the first and last place I went, and my gown ended up being the fifth one I tried on,” she explains. The Sophia Tolli design featured lace detailing across the body, which carried down either side. The invisible back had buttons running down its length before the lace picked up again around the bottom. The bride accessorised with a pair of white strappy heels, a lace headpiece and a veil adorned in small crystals. The groomsmen all wore dark blue three-piece suits with white shirts and deep purple ties, along with a pocket square to match the bridesmaids’ dresses. Tom decided to wear a chequered waistcoat allowing him to stand out from the rest of his groomsmen. The gents all wore matching dark brown shoes, which pulled their outfits together. “Originally, I wanted my bridesmaids to wear lavender but unfortunately the colour just didn’t suit them, so we ended up opting for deep purple dresses,” Megan tells us. “These actually complemented the lavender theme better and really made the bouquets stand out.” The gowns were then expertly altered by Gwen, based in Northwich. The ladies finished their look with silver sandals and jewellery. TIME TO CELEBRATE Following “I dos” guests enjoyed drinks and canapés, while the couple headed off for their photo shoot. After everyone had enjoyed the wedding REAL WEDDINGS 23

breakfast and speeches, there were a couple of hours for guests to mingle again before the evening do kicked off. “We really wanted this time in between so we could spend time with our loved ones and enjoy the day,” Megan explains. For the evening bash, the couple hired local band, Soul Revolver, since live music is something they both greatly enjoy. As soon as the first dance was over the band began to play and the dancefloor was full from start to finish. Following Soul Revolver’s set, a DJ took over and played the couple’s favourite songs so the dancing never stopped. MEMORABLE MOMENTS “We both felt extremely happy from beginning to end, it really was the best day of our lives, and as everyone says, it just went far too quickly,” Megan shares. “The ceremony was so special, especially being surrounded by our friends and family. We really enjoyed the speeches too, which had everyone laughing. But the evening do was by far the best bit, dancing the night away with loved ones!” The couple’s day was made complete by one extra special guest, Tom’s dad Norman. He was extremely unwell but managed to be there with them for the ceremony and wedding breakfast. “Very sadly, Norman passed away just 12 days later but we’ll always remember having him with us for our special day,” Megan says. THE GETAWAY The newlyweds had planned to take their Italian honeymoon a month later. Happily, family had agreed to look after their girls for the week. They spent five days in Lake Garda: “One of the most stunning places we’ve ever been,” says Megan. They explored by boat, on foot, by car and by electric bikes. Indeed, their highlight was the day spent cycling to a vineyard for a wine tasting, followed by a tipsy cycle back to the hotel! They then rounded off the trip with a further two days in Venice. MEGAN’S TOP TIP “Don’t sweat the small stuff,” the bride says. “You can do so much planning leading up to the day, trying to control every last detail, but what really matters is being there with your spouse-to-be, surrounded by your loved ones, celebrating your life together. I just tried to enjoy and soak up every minute of the day.” 24

RULE THEM ALL One ring to Stacey and Dan chose a Lord of the Rings theme for their big day complemented by autumnal hues Images courtesy of Jamie Ellis Photography Stacey and Dan worked together at Debenhams, but didn’t meet each other properly until after work drinks one evening. Despite not talking much, that night Stacey had a dream about Dan! In the dream she was married to him, and they were late for her best friends’ wedding. “Which, quite frankly, I enjoyed,” Stacey says. She told her best friend about it, who wasted no time in sharing the information with everyone she knew, including Dan! One morning, he found her changing the store’s front window and proposed to her as a joke. Stacey was mortified, but since then it’s been a whirlwind of romance for the two of them and here they are today, married, just as Stacey predicted. “We both make each other laugh, which everyone around us loves, and we enjoy the banter we share. We never argue,” Stacey shares. The couple adore UK mini-breaks and on one particular occasion were off on an adventure in Pembrokeshire. Dan proposed when they visited Tenby for the day. “I had no idea what he was planning, other than the usual picnic – Dan makes a cracking sarnie,” Stacey remembers. So it was, he got down on one knee and popped the question. Dan told her to open a gift, which was a personalised plate from Emma Bridgewater, which read: “Will you marry me, Stacey?” “It was a pretty magical proposal,” she says. Talhenbont Hall had always been top of Stacey’s venue list. The couple both emailed various venues and not many responded, so when they heard back from the team at Talhenbont they were excited! “When we drove up to the Hall and met Paul, I honestly knew straight away,” Stacey shares. “The stunning surroundings are breathtaking and that was so important to Dan as he loves the outdoors.” The two had their hearts set on an autumn wedding due to the spectacular colour changes and Dan being a Lord of the Rings fanatic! Wasting no time, the couple set the date for 19th October 2024. Read on as the bride tells us more... 26
