MARIA MODES BRIDAL 24-30 Park Green, Macclesfield, Cheshire, SK11 7NA 01625 502 502 | https://mariamodes.com Emma has been the owner of Maria Modes for nine years, which is a little different from most boutiques. A wedding department store, it offers not only bridal but bridesmaids, menswear and mother-of-the-bride/groom too. Located in Macclesfield, it’s set over three spacious floors. “We aim for laid-back luxury as our mantra, bringing you the most gorgeous offering (if I do say so myself!) of fashion forward and traditional wedding dresses, and everything in between,” Emma says. What’s your favourite gown in store at the moment? I’m in love with Issy from our new designer, Mariana Hardwick. Made from the most gorgeous crystal organza which shimmers in the light, the structure and placement of the fabric is just breathtaking, simple but most definitely a fashion statement. I have a very full bust. What styles will suit me and how can I get the right support? Almost all of our brides, no matter their bust size, do not wear a bra with their dress as with the right support you don’t need too. It’s a common misconception that because you have a full bust you have to have straps. While a dress with straps might make you feel more comfortable and make you feel more supported, the support and structure you need actually comes from below your bust; in the bodice of the dress. Straps on most wedding dresses are flimsy, made from lace, tulle and beading and aren’t there for structure, just for looks. You want to steer clear of dresses without boning in the bodice and ideally look for ones with internal corsetry and bust cups to help create an internal bra-like structure for your bust. In terms of styles to suit your figure, if you have good proportions or are pear shaped then fishtail dresses can work well as your hips balance out your bust. A large a ballgown can be too full from the waist, not leaving much space between your bust and skirt giving the illusion you have no waist. So, my favourite go-to style is a soft A-line, which creates a good balance for your top-heavy upper half by softly flowing out from your hips and balancing your bust. Chester Road West, Queensferry, Deeside, Flintshire, CH5 1SA 07442 603 912 | www.thelittledressco.co.uk Owning a bridal shop has been a life-long dream for Amy who was lucky enough to make it a reality alongside her friend and business partner Kate. The pair launched the Little Dress Co. as a mobile company, hosting pop-up events at wedding venues across the North West. After gaining a lot of interest, they decided to open up a more permanent home in their Deeside studio. “Our goal is to make gorgeous, designer bridalwear accessible to all,” Amy says. “We offer brides the complete boutique dress shopping experience, without the high-end price tag.” Indeed, their large collection of ex-sample and preloved gowns are priced from £120 to £990 and are available in inclusive sizing from 6 to 26. One-to-one consultations are available by appointment only to ensure brides have their full attention while they help to curate your look. What’s your favourite gown in store at the moment? It has to be Harper, a stunning off-the-shoulder, heavily embellished number with showstopping sparkle - we don’t expect this one to be around for long! A big meringue of a dress really isn’t my vibe. I really want something chic, unique and fashion forward. What designers and styles do you suggest I try? For something a little different, we love Evie Young. The collections offer fresh patterns and materials with a bohemian vibe. We’ve had some beautiful designs in this year that our brides have loved!
