Your Cheshire and Merseyside Wedding - Sep-Oct 2023 (Issue 71)

In the evening, live band Here’s To Us kept the dancefloor full. They also provided a DJ service in between live sets. They played a huge variety of music, which we hope appealed to everyone, and they had an amazing sound. Mike really enjoys music, so it was important to him to have live entertainment. All of our suppliers were amazing. Our photographer and videographer fitted seamlessly into our day and kept everything super-relaxed. The venue team couldn’t do enough to help and were constantly on hand. But Emma from Event Cheshire made our day extra special. The flowers were so much more than we ever could have imagined and the colours she chose were perfect. She even added extra bits to surprise us on the day, which made us feel so special and is something I’ll never forget. We all enjoyed canapés of spring rolls, beef brisket balls, salmon caviar and mini Yorkshire puddings before sitting down to our wedding breakfast. Our main meal was ham hock or tomato and paprika soup, followed by feather blade of beef and dauphinoise potatoes or feta and sun-dried tomato tart, finished with chocolate brownie with raspberry sorbet. In the evening, we had bacon or sausage baps with potato wedges. We bought a large gold mirror second hand and my friend made acrylic names that we stuck on. We decorated it with flowers that matched the bouquet in order to keep our theme flowing throughout, and did the same for our wedding sign. We also went for dark wooden place names to complement the woodwork throughout the castle. As the room was so tall we wanted a statuesque cake to prevent it looking out of place. We had five tiers, which sat on a sixth decorated with flowers to make it look like it sat on a pillow of blooms. The middle tier was adorned in fondant lace to mirror the lace on my veil. It was also monogrammed to connect various other elements throughout. We looked up the average wedding cost in the UK and then researched how to allocate it. We both picked one thing that was most important to us and decided to prioritise those, and whatever was left would be divided amongst everything else. Early agreement on the budget also meant very few arguments in the run up to the wedding, as it’s so easy to get carried away otherwise. 42
