We listened to so many bands online trying to find what we were looking for and within budget. My sister-in-law recommended End of the Century to us as they’d performed at a wedding she’d been to a few year’s prior. We loved their music and booked them right away. They were incredible! We danced all night until the very end. We were both so excited and couldn’t believe our day was finally happening. This was the third date we’d set due to Covid. For a while it felt like we’d be in the planning stages forever. So, being able to dance all night with loved ones was a huge highlight after such a long time not being allowed to thanks to the restrictions. The food and wine was a huge part of the day for us as we both love dining out together. It was important to us that everything was locally sourced and seasonal. We told a story through our menu. There were Indian tandoori flavours in our starter of scallops and monk fish. Then we dined on ruby red beef for the main (our daughter’s name is Ruby), full of traditional English flavours. Italy was the theme of our dessert – a boozy tiramisu. The tables were named after memorable places for us as a family, such as Salcombe, Maldives, Amsterdam and Bracken. Each name was placed in a gorgeous gold open-out frame, which now hold our wedding photos. I underestimated how hard planning a marquee wedding would be. Although it’s great to be free to do as you wish, we needed a lot of suppliers and towards the end I started to feel overwhelmed by it all. I decided to book a wedding planner a couple of months before our big day and I wish I’d done it from the start. She became part of our family, organising things, speaking to suppliers, listening to me when I felt anxious about Covid. She ran the day for us, making sure everything ran smoothly. 48
