NOTLEY TYTHE BARN, BUCKINGHAMSHIRE Nestled amongst 500 acres of private grounds, in a picturesque fold in the Chiltern Hills, Notley Tythe Barn’s story began 900 years ago as part of a medieval monastery. Still standing today, with its Magnificent Hall, Granary Bar and gardens, it is the perfect setting for a wedding. The listed 12th-century barn has a beautiful historical aura, and the Granary Bar boasting a rustic design, with a sparkly finish, is in perfect keeping with the barn but with a little extra dazzle to create a fabulous party backdrop. The 500-acre working farm provides the perfect setting for a dream day in all four seasons, whether it’s in the sunshine during harvest time, in the springtime with the newborn lambs, amongst shades of autumn or under a blanket of frost. Ceremonies can be held indoors and outside while the wedding breakfast and reception take place in the barn seating up to 140 guests for dinner with an additional 60 loved ones in the adjoining Granary Bar. Set beside the river Windrush, close to the centre of the Cotswolds market town of Witney, it’s a wonderful wedding venue with plenty of guest accommodation. The farm comprises the 13th-century Manor House, Grade II listed stone farm buildings and 18 acres of grounds, including a formal croquet lawn, a charming walled kitchen garden and an orchard with a farmyard bordered by Grade 11 listed farm buildings. The surrounding woodland and meadows are home to farm animals, ducks and chickens. There are two wedding offerings at the venue. Wedding hire includes the two beautiful, adjoining 18th-century Grade II listed Cotswold stone barns set in a walled courtyard within extensive grounds that are perfect for garden games or a firepit. Dry hire clients have the freedom to host drinks receptions on the manor lawn and bring in their own choice of caterers with service in the barns or festival-style in the barn courtyard, or in the farmyard for evening food. The larger Wheat Barn is ideal for a sit-down reception with people seated at round tables or banquet-style, and has a dancefloor plus it can also host up to 200 loved ones for the ceremony. The smaller Barley Barn is popular for ceremonies of up to 130 guests and can seat up to 100 people banqueting style or 60-70 guests at round tables. It can also be used as dancefloor, or a quiet space for young children, hosting games, or a tea and coffee station. The venue is now licensed for ceremonies in the panelled dining room inside the Manor House for an intimate 20 guests. With an optional celebration buffet afternoon tea, there are plenty of drinks options too. The wedding party has the freedom to enjoy the farm and have their photographs taken in the beautiful grounds. Micro weddings are daytime only events and available virtually year-round, except during Halloween and Christmas. The team offer a selection of historic farmyard items that can be used as props such as milk churns and rustic wheelbarrows, plus hay bales, garden games and firepits for hire. Animal food is given if couples would like photographs feeding the sheep and goats.
