tell us. “The Post Barn is stunning, we fell in love with it as soon as we walked in. It has oak beams, tall glass windows and simplistic décor inside. The grounds are beautiful, with different levelled areas and a pretty garden with rose-covered archways.” The couple chose simplistic décor. “We had a black and white welcome sign decorated with elegant white roses and gypsophila,” Allie tells us. “We went for an array of white rose and gypsophila arrangements displayed on tall clear stands as centrepieces with LED candles scattered at the top of the aisle to add a little elegance to the room. We matched the bridesmaids’ and the bride’s bouquet to these centrepieces and my daughter held a single white rose. The chairs were an off-white colour to match our classic theme and the tables were covered with white tablecloths, green glass and elegant silverware.” As favours, Allie and Rob chose black acrylic name tags as the place names which complemented their monochrome table plan. “We opted for a simplistic look of white A5 cards with black table numbers on tall black stands in the centre of the table,” they tell us. Their cake was a two-tier wedding cake with their initials in black to match the initials on their wedding invites. “The top tier was a chocolate Guinness flavour and the bottom was strawberries and cream,” they tell us. Allie and Rob gave their guests a choice from the menu. “The starters were burrata, tomato, basil and aged balsamic or classic smoked salmon plate, capers, hens egg, pickled shallots, cornichons and brown bread,” Allie says. The main course was pork belly with bubble and squeak cake, roasted root vegetables and cider jus or posh fish and chips which included a roasted cod loin, crushed peas, game chips, hot tartar sauce and salt and vinegar battered bits. The dessert choices were lemon slice with popping candy and raspberry sorbet or sticky toffee pudding with Madagascan vanilla ice cream.” The couple had a Polaroid camera for their guests to take photos with and add to their guest book along with a traditional basket of flipflops for the ladies and a couple of boxes of cigars for the boys. Allie and Rob describe how the atmosphere was electric from start to finish. “The sound of laughter was in the air along with the clinking of glasses,” they tell us. “After the wedding breakfast, we had our confetti shot taken and were then whisked away by our photographer, Jennie, for group and couple photos. When we rejoined the party, our evening guests were greeted with gin and tonic or a glass of Pimms followed by the cutting of the cake. Our first dance was Better by Khalid and the party then got started with the entrance of the Club Kudo live band. Carriages arrived at midnight with some people having to be pulled from the dancefloor!” “Seeing all of your loved ones with big smiles on their faces as you walk down the aisle, with my husband-to-be to be waiting at the end of the aisle was an incredible feeling. My father had suffered a stroke five months before our wedding and I feel so lucky and privileged that he made a safe recovery and was able to be there on our big day to walk me down the aisle.” - Allie. “Being able to take a step back and share the morning with my sisters, my best friend of 32 years and my daughter was extremely special.” - Allie. 47 REAL WEDDINGS
