THE WINDSOR GUILDHALL Situated in the heart of the royal town of Windsor just a few steps away from Windsor Castle, the central location of this venue means that there are hotels and restaurants within walking distance, perfect for wedding guests. Couples can make the most of the photogenic town of Windsor after their ceremony by posing for photographs near Windsor Castle, in the quaint cobbled streets surrounding the Guildhall or on the iconic Long Walk which is five minutes away. The Windsor Guildhall building dates from 1689 and is a unique heritage wedding venue with royal connections that span the centuries. Underneath the building is an area known as the Corn Exchange with elegant pillars which provide shelter on those days when the weather takes a turn for the worse. The Windsor Guildhall is an all-season wedding venue with ceremonies taking place 12 months of the year. King Charles III and Her Majesty The Queen Camilla were married at the Windsor Guildhall in 2005 so 2025 will be the twentieth wedding anniversary – a great year to get married at The Windsor Guildhall. The team are also proud to have hosted the civil partnership ceremony of Elton John and his husband David Furnish on the first day the ceremonies became legal in England and Wales. The royal portraits adorning the walls have all been gifted to the venue over the centuries from the reigning monarch. The chandeliers are part of a set of three chandeliers which were commissioned by George IV in the 1800s. The third one that was made hangs in the Queen’s Guard Chamber in Windsor Castle. Ceremonies take place in the magnificent Council Chamber which is full of unique heritage features including royal portraits from the last five centuries. The room is flooded with natural daylight and lit by stunning chandeliers on loan from the Royal Collection Trust on behalf of The Monarch. With high ceilings and striking period features, the Coucil Chamber provides a stunning backdrop to ceremonies for up to 100 guests. The Ascot room is available for an additional fee which is the room where King Charles III and Her Majesty The Queen Camilla chose to marry in 2005. This room features striking stained-glass windows and can accommodate up to 50 guests. Many couples choose to host a drinks reception in the Council Chamber straight after their ceremony with a 90-minute or two-hour hire option. A drinks reception can also be provided on the Corn Exchange area underneath the Guildhall. Receptions with a range of dining options can take place in the Council Chamber (for up to 90 guests seated or up to 100 guests drinks reception). The team work with premium local suppliers to provide mouthwatering menus for guests. This provides flexibility on menu options from an informal buffet or canapés to a more formal and seated wedding breakfast. Residents of the Royal Borough can save up to £150 off the standard published prices. www.rbwm.gov.uk/guildhall www.instagram.com/windsorguildhall Images courtesy of www.photographybyabimoore.com 30
