This historic four-star hotel, wedding venue and spa perched within ten acres of picturesque gardens within a protected nature reserve is the perfect place for a pre-wedding pamper, exchanging vows or a mini-moon in the region. BEAUTY SLEEP The fab Georgian manor house boasts 78 bedrooms and four spacious suites oozing the charm of a bygone era where guests can relax in style, some boasting views of the manicured grounds. For a home-fromhome for the night, the hotel’s best offering for newlyweds is the multiroom Honeymoon Suite furnished with a four-poster bed and a romantic bathtub. Alternatively, there’s the more contemporary Signature Suite that also provides the wow factor. Both are included in the Sweetheart and Signature wedding packages for the newlyweds on the night of their wedding. A FOODIE HEAVEN At the heart of this vibrant hotel is Brasserie 1727 where guests can experience a hearty breakfast, lunch by appointment or dinner. On the extensive menu are British classics created with seasonal, fresh ingredients. I tucked into the delicious Vegan Moving Mountain burger followed by the vegan chocolate mousse. The best seat in the house is by the large window in the elegant Tea Room, a timeless setting decorated in soft pink with glittering chandeliers and views of the lawn where the wedding pavilion commands a prime position in a tranquil spot overlooking the sprawling grounds of this back-to-nature bolthole. On the traditional afternoon tea menu is a wide selection of finger sandwiches with fillings including Berkshire ham with English mustard and coronation chicken on brioche. The cream tea offers scones served with Devonshire clotted cream and a choice of flavoured preserves plus there’s also a mix of mouth-watering pastries. Vegetarian and vegan sandwiches are available on request and everything is served with coffee or a pot of tea. The list of teas was endless with everything from peppermint and chai to red bush and red berry mixed with hibiscus flower which was my favourite. I also toasted the occasion with a glass of champagne! An after-dinner tipple from the extensive wine, beer and spirit list can be enjoyed at the Georgian Bar & Lounge. There’s also port and dessert wine and a concoction of cocktails, from the popular Aperol Spritz and Espresso Martini to delicious non-alcoholic blends. RELAX AND REJUVENATE The wellness journey starts the moment you enter the Soul Spa treatment rooms at this health-focused hotel. Get the glow with a facial, massage or body polish treatment from the extensive treatment menu that uses Temple Spa products. A lazy day spent by the pool, jacuzzi and sauna afterwards is a must! MADE FOR ROMANCE This period wedding venue offers a choice of elegant private event spaces licensed for magical fairytale-inspired weddings – think Jane Austen in style and you get the idea! Ceremonies are enjoyed in the Windsor Suite and outdoor Garden Pavilion. The Windsor Suite and Chiltern Bar also hosts the three-course wedding breakfast and evening reception and a drinks reception can be arranged – couples can choose from an elegant cocktail reception or a prosecco or gin bar. A barbecue wedding breakfast offers a fun alternative and guests can also tuck into mezze sharing boards and mini dessert stations. Couples can entertain their loved ones with the hire of garden games, perfect for summer soirées, plus there’s a creche room for the little lovelies (a childminder can be provided separately). Exclusive use of the entire hotel can be arranged along with dry hire and couples can request a private breakfast room the following morning. Get me there! Prices start from £108.
