She says, “Don’t forget that the point of a wedding is to celebrate, so your outfit should be suitably jubilant and cheery! You never want to overshadow the bride of course, but you should feel open to sporting bright colours or interesting silhouettes.” Alexandra says when it comes to headwear, the bigger the better. “As long as it’s not white, your hat or headpiece should be as bold as you dare - there’s no better excuse for hat-wearing than at a wedding, so take the opportunity and don headwear that makes you happy and gives you confidence.” She adds, “There’s an old-fashioned rule that says you can remove your hat once the mother-of-the-bride removes hers - but I say no, don’t remove the most exciting part of your outfit! Do make sure the hat is stable though, you don’t want any slippage during sips of champagne or bouts of air kissing. Headband or bandeau styles are the easiest and most comfortable to wear, while beret-style, side-swept headpieces are chic and tasteful. I’d veer away from veiling over the face at a wedding, but florals are always groundbreaking and feathers always fantastic.” Shop the look: https://alexandraharpermillinery.com www.instagram.com/alexandraharpermillinery JEWELLERY AND ACCESSORIES 57 CAROLINE DAVIDGE BRIDAL Oxfordshire-based designer Caroline tells us what’s trending in the world of wedding veils this season. She says, “For summer brides, I think of veils made with sheer and soft fabrics that have delicate embellishments and trims, keeping them lightweight and easy breezy, just like the season.” “This style features a large ribbon bow on a barrette hair clip (velvet or grosgrain works well) with a polka-dot veil attached with a ribbon trim. The veil can be removable from the hair clip.” “This soft tulle, single-tier veil looks pretty with scattered pearls all over.” “This mantilla-style veil made with sheer tulle and a slim scalloped lace edge is a popular choice.” Shop the look: www.carolinedavidgebridal.com www.instagram.com/carolinedavidgebridal
