Issy and Adam met at secondary school. “We knew of each other for years and I agreed to go on a coffee date with him when I was in college,” Issy tells us. Adam adds, “I just knew she was the one. I told my mum there was a girl I knew I was going to marry but we were so young so I waited until the right time. Luckily for us, the wait was worth it.” Adam proposed in 2020 after the couple had been together for five years living in their house with their little boy, Archie. “Adam decided to make me pancakes one morning and let me enjoy a lie in, however, he suddenly realised he had left something important in his work truck,” Issy tells us. “Half an hour later, I was finishing off the pancakes when he strolled back in, got down on one knee with Archie in one arm and the ring held out to me. It was a total surprise!” SETTING THE SCENE “I work in weddings so I was already very familiar with plenty of wedding venues. When we viewed The Great House in Sonning, it ticked all the boxes,” Issy explains. “It looked out on to the river and had a modern yet cosy décor. Our wedding was in October so the open fires and outside heaters were perfect. There was a smaller room to the side of the main room and we had invited children so this provided the ideal place for them. We had plenty of toys on hand (Archie handed out fidget toys before the ceremony) as well as a box of child-friendly snacks and drinks. We also had bags of bread so the little ones could take some down to the river and feed the ducks.” As soon as Issy started walking down the aisle and saw Adam, he became teary. He tells us, “I was so emotional on the day which was a big surprise. I managed to hold it together but as soon as I saw Issy walking down the aisle, I couldn’t hold back the tears, she just looked 31 REAL WEDDINGS
