Q&A Fashion & beauty Our local experts give their advice FIVE POINTS TO CONSIDER What are your top five pre-wedding beauty tips? As a makeup artist, my top five pre-wedding beauty tips for brides-to-be are: 1. Start a skincare routine at least three months before the wedding. Cleanse, exfoliate, and moisturise your skin daily. Don’t forget sunscreen and professional facials! 2. Hydrate and nourish your body by drinking plenty of water and incorporating antioxidant-rich foods into your diet. 3. Prioritise sleep and aim for seven hours each night to rejuvenate your skin and help to heal your body overnight. 4. Manage stress with relaxation techniques like meditation, yoga, or deep breathing exercises. 5. Book a trial with your make-up artist and hair stylist to finalise your bridal look and ensure you’re happy with it. 6. Keep touch-up make-up - lipstick and powder - in your bag in case you need an extra top-up during the day. Remember to keep calm and enjoy every moment of the day! Absolutely! Create a mood board on Pinterest or with magazines to gather make-up ideas. Look for brides or models with similar features to yours for inspiration. Think about the bridal make-up style you want for your wedding day. Are you a natural, soft glam, or full Hollywood glam type of bride? Secondly, if your bridesmaids are getting their make-up done too, ask them to send photos of themselves along with inspiration images for us to discuss. Collect your wedding accessories such as your veil, hair accessories, and earrings, and bring them to your trial. If possible, bring photos of your wedding dress and any other elements of your wedding theme or colour palette. This helps the make-up artist understand your overall vision. Finally, what to wear! Wear a top the same colour as your wedding dress, like a white top if you have a white dress. This helps you visualise the overall bridal look. Additionally, have your hair styled or at least done. Bridal make-up can look full on if your hair isn’t at its best. Stay hydrated, follow your skincare routine, and avoid trying any new products that might cause a reaction.
