Purdie and Steve met many years ago. Initially, Purdie wasn’t interested in meeting anyone, but when she met Steve, she decided to give him a chance and the pair have been inseparable ever since.

Steve fell in love with Purdie’s iconic and unique laugh, while Purdie fell in love with Steve the moment he, without question, got into the back of her car because her dog Zac was taking up the front seat.

After a romantic proposal, the big date was set for July 2023, with a private farm in Faversham creating the big-day backdrop. Purdie and Steve have many lovely memories of their time together walking in the fields of the valley in Faversham and knew that the vantage point over the valley was where they wanted to say, ‘I do’. They had to be somewhat flexible with their plans, however, as the rain in the week leading up to the event was significant and the grounds of the field proved trickier to navigate for the suppliers than initially anticipated. The ceremony moved from one side of the valley to the other, where the ground was flatter and the rest is history.

Bethan and Sam met through mutual friends. “We messaged each other for a few months and eventually went on a date,” says Bethan. “We went to Winter Wonderland in Cardiff and instantly clicked with each other. After we met, Sam went back to his local pub and met up with his friends, and when they asked how it went, his response was, ‘I’m going to marry her.’ We went on several dates after this; however, lockdown then happened in March and we made the decision to move in together rather than not see each other.”

Sam proposed at Edinburgh Castle in September 2021. “Edinburgh Castle is my favourite place and we were having a weekend away there for my dad’s 60th birthday,” shares the bride. “My mum, dad, sister and her partner were there, which was important because I’m so close to my family.”

“When thinking of beautiful wedding stationery, the finishing touches are what set your invitations apart,” says Florrie, from de Havilland Memories. “To create an unforgettable experience for your guests when opening your wedding paper, you can choose to elevate your invitations with little details such as silk ribbon or wax seals. By using a colour that's reflected in your stationery, these touches can either be used to make a statement or simply to uplift; but no matter your choice you'll be sure to leave a lasting impression, setting the tone for the big day ahead.

“We only use the finest, sustainably-sourced materials, meaning all of our ribbons are pure silk and hand-dyed using natural pigments. Our wax seals are only ever obtained from small, local businesses and our paper is either unbleached, recycled or made from sustainable materials, so you can create statement wedding stationery without the cost to the environment.”

Jamie proposed to Sarah in Edinburgh where they were enjoying a picnic in the castle gardens. Soon after, they started to plan the big day in the Caribbean, which was something they'd both dreamed of. Still keen to celebrate with friends and family though, they discussed the possibility of booking a UK venue too for a reception. The Titanic Hotel immediately sprung to mind as this is where they met at a Christmas party. So, they went along to enquire and were shown West Bay. “The venue itself is absolutely beautiful, even without being dressed for a wedding,” Sarah says. “The brick, the lighting, the size of the room...”

After chatting with the wedding coordinators, the couple loved it so much that within two days they'd cancelled the Jamaica beach wedding and booked their entire day in Liverpool at the Titanic Hotel for 16th November 2023! We got the lowdown from the bride...

Cumberland Flower Farm has been accredited by the Sustainable Wedding Alliance. The farm was established in 2018 and grows cut flowers for homes, businesses and weddings near Cockermouth in West Cumbria. Using old- school market garden methods, the team grows flowers and foliage from March until October. The company has a growing reputation for sustainable floristry, designing without floral foam and imported flowers that celebrate the seasons. Its relaxed ‘country garden’ florals have proved very popular with couples marrying in the Lakes, flowering between 40 and 50 weddings a year.

The Sustainable Wedding Alliance was set up in 2020 by Michelle Miles to help the wedding industry reach the country’s ambition to be net zero by 2030. The process of accreditation supports businesses in understanding their current carbon footprint and creating a sustainability strategy that helps them become more environmentally friendly.

Harriet Smithson, the owner of Cumberland Flower Farm, tells us: “We are delighted to have achieved accreditation with the Sustainable Wedding Alliance. It is brilliant to be able to celebrate our work and have a practical plan for our growth and development. The accreditation process has taken us a year and has involved us analysing our carbon footprint, supply chain and processes. It’s very thorough and thought-provoking! It’s easy to say you are ‘eco’ but this really underlines the effort we make to consider the environment. Sustainability is at the heart of what we do and to be the first business in Cumbria to be accredited is a great achievement. We encourage others to join and start the process!”

Hedingham Castle is set within 160 acres of stunning Essex countryside including the beautifully restored gardens in the immediate area below the Castle – the perfect backdrop for wedding photography. Our favourite spot is the lake, with the Castle behind, or in between the huge Wellingtonia trees at the bottom of the formal pond. The history of Hedingham spans almost a millennium, with the Castle almost 900 years old. Its imposing Norman architecture is iconic and the Castle is a landmark in its own right and can be seen for miles around, standing at over 70ft tall. The majestic castle is arguably the best preserved Norman Keep of its kind in the country, both inside and out.

While Katie and Corey worked together as teachers at the same school, they only really got to know each other while on a residential visit to Whirlow Hall Farm Trust. Together they took a group of 12 primary school children to learn about farming and the countryside. “It's often the first time these children have stayed away from home, so we get them involved in the cooking but Corey and I were left with the washing up!” Kate tells us. And that's where it all began.

Their love blossomed over time and Corey surprised Kate by proposing at More Hall Reservoir. To celebrate, they'd planned to head over to The Barn Cafe at Whirlow, where they first bonded during that memorable trip, but alas it wasn't to be. The diamond from the engagement ring had decided to go walkabout and although they searched high and low, sadly didn't manage to find it. “It wasn't the proposal either of us imagined... although we can see the funny side of it now and enjoy having a story to tell,” Kate laughs.

Jonny and his groomsmen had a whisky and watches photo before the ceremony, and as a complete surprise to the groom his bride gifted him a love letter and a watch that he'd been admiring for some time, the Tudor Black Bay watch, which she purchased at Wakefields in Horsham. "He wore his medals too, which looked incredibly smart and Prince Charming like," says Jess.
