The venue, Parklands, Quendon Hall, was dressed with rustic brown tones seen in the floral arrangements, accessories and detailed styling. The vision of shoot organiser, Lisa Curtis from Gemini Styling, was to inspire brides by the transition from summer through to autumn. The loose, cascading half-up hairstyle represented the fall of autumnal leaves embellished with golden accessories. The shoot is featured in full in our May/June issue available now to read online for FREE

Liberty Rose Haynes, a wedding hair and make-up designer, has returned from maternity leave and is ready to help brides look their best on their big day. Liberty has been working with wigs, hair, make-up and grooming for 17 years, from comedy to creating personal red carpet looks for A-list clients, and is excited to bring this experience to Kent and get involved with the magic of Kentish weddings, helping make memories for couples.

Liberty tells us: “I made the decision to transition from travel and film production make-up to be more local for my daughter. This means I can use my 17 years of industry hair and make-up experience to help you create your dream look. In addition to hair and make-up for brides, I can also help the groom-to-be look and feel like his best on the day.”

Liberty also has a new role lecturing make-up for film and production at UAL universities, teaching the hair and make-up artists of the future at degree level – congratulations!

Wedding planning can be stressful and even lead to sleepless nights. To help, Hotpod Yoga Cardiff has launched a new sleep-focused class. The class will offer a calming and restorative flow that is suitable for all and draws from different yoga styles to deliver ultimate relaxation, all set within the nurturing environment of a patented pod: a peaceful cocoon helping you to relax deeply and find calm.

Dr. Sophie Bostock, who has partnered with Hotpod Yoga to support the launch of Sleep Sessions, says: “Many people struggle to switch off at night or wake up in the early hours with a racing mind. Yoga combines physical movement, breathwork and meditation techniques, which develop the skill of deep relaxation. Research shows that yoga helps people gain awareness and a sense of control over their minds and bodies, and there is evidence that regular yoga practice can help to improve not just strength and flexibility but also immune function, mental health, sleep quality and overall wellbeing. Sleep sessions will help people practice yoga in an environment curated for recovery with dim lights, relaxing music and pleasant aromas.”

Katy Rayner from Bracken and Twine Flowers tells us her top tips for planning an outdoor wedding.

"Embracing the beauty of seasonal, locally grown flowers is a wonderful way to reflect the charm of nature, seamlessly complementing the atmosphere of your special day. Opting for blooms that are in season not only ensures freshness but also harmonises perfectly with the environment around you.

"To achieve a natural and unstructured look, consider designs that mimic the organic beauty of a garden, hedgerow, or wildflower meadow. Think loosely gathered bouquets, rambling arrangements, and centrepieces with a just-picked feel. Embrace asymmetry and varying textures to add depth and character to your floral displays.

"Partnering with a florist who resonates with your love for natural and informal styles is key. Seek out someone who not only comprehends your vision but can also breathe life into it with their expertise and boundless creativity. A florist should not only elevate the visual allure of your wedding but also guarantee that each arrangement is a true reflection of your individual style and personality."

The team at ALT Events Co. organised this styled shoot at Didsbury Parsonage Trust. “The fact that the property was a Catholic building in the past made it even more meaningful to do a same-sex shoot there with a real same-sex couple,” says the team at ALT Events Co. “We’ve come so far from the antiquated views of the past that I wanted to blend a more modern shoot with the historical aspects. The autumnal colours are something I love to capture in November. As we moved from autumn to winter, the floor was littered with red and orange leaves, which really brought out the deep colour of the sunlight and the stained glass in the windows of the parsonage. We incorporated the autumnal theme into the florals and the tablescape and matched a black dress with dark muted make-up.”

When friends and colleagues Jennifer Jelley from Divine Photography Eastbourne and Zayna from Florals by Zayna came up with the idea of creating a chic, Vogue-style wedding shoot Jennifer wasted no time in kicking of the planning process, something that would ultimately take her months.

The colour palette of choice was white accented with light pastels, which created a beautifully fresh and clean theme. Zayna designed the floral displays using fresh blooms, while her husband put together the arches. “I had a particular idea in mind of having a harpist play soft music in the ceremony room, and we opted for a wedding dress with an open back and bow, with a black tuxedo for the groom,” Jennifer shares. “We wanted everything to ooze sophistication.” The Chanel perfume and watch too certainly helped them achieve this goal.

The cake and tablescape were designed to fit the palette and inspiration along with every other element right down to the hair and make-up finished with handmade bridal headpieces and jewellery.

Wedding photographer Laura and Wedding band guitarist Elliott Thornhill have witnessed their fair share of wedding days. Now it was their turn... Laura tells us, “It was tricky at first because on one hand I wanted a venue I hadn't shot at before so it felt new and special to us but on the other hand, I also wanted a venue I had tried and tested! Greenwoods ticked all the boxes as I'd shot there a few times so had encountered their lovely staff and sampled their amazing food but I'd only shot in their smaller suites which meant their larger Garden Suite felt brand new to me. Being a winter wedding, we loved the warm and cozy feeling throughout, the mix of old and modern and everything being in one place. We opted for a Christmassy menu and had baked Camembert for starters, a turkey roast for main and sticky toffee pudding for dessert.” This stunning wedding is featured in full in our May/June issue available now to read online for FREE

Samantha and Craig met at a pub. “I was working there and Craig would regularly visit,” says Samantha. “I was attracted to Craig from the moment I saw him, especially his dazzling blue eyes and his gleaming white-toothed smile. Later, I realised he also had a great sense of humour and personality. He always made me laugh; there was never a dull shift at the pub when he was there. We got chatting quite often and after a few months, we went out on our first date.”

Craig proposed in Edinburgh in spring 2021. “We travelled there for the weekend and I had no idea he was going to propose,” shares the bride. “The day before we were leaving, Craig said he had work to do, but really he was asking my mum, Cath, for her permission to ask me to marry him! We spent the first day there together and on the second day, we were walking around, almost in circles, before he decided to pull a box out of his inside jacket pocket and open it to show a ring! I was in shock and replied, ‘Are you joking?’ Then he got down on one knee and asked me again, to which of course I replied, ‘Yes’ and then we hugged and kissed and shared the news with our friends and family.”

Beth and Alex met on a dating website. “We have both been married before and gone through difficult separations and divorces,” says Beth. “Alex was incredibly charming and to this day, I still call him my Charming Mr Alex. We had a lot in common, as we both love the outdoors and enjoy walking, paddleboarding, the beach and coastal areas. Our love for life was what really shone through. We had an immediate connection and I know it may sound cheesy, but I know that we were meant to meet. He is what I had been waiting for my entire life! He treated me like an absolute lady from the start and spoilt me rotten in every way and still does. He completely swept me off my feet and the first year was a total dream come true. It is incredible to meet someone who respects you so much for who you are and who will love you unconditionally. I feel so lucky to have met Alex and to now have the family that I do with him.”

Alex took Beth to Iceland for her birthday in January 2022 and proposed at a Michelin-starred restaurant called Dill. “We had seen the restaurant on our favourite programme called Down to Earth,” shares the bride. “I had dreamed of going to Iceland for so long and we had so much fun exploring it together. It was one of the most amazing holidays and one I will never forget.”

Emma and Marwen met while on holiday. “It was your typical holiday romance that turned into a life together here in the UK,” says Emma. “Marwen proposed to me during a holiday to Istanbul with our friends. He bought me flowers and a beautiful gold ring with a diamond and asked if I would marry him.”

"Marwen is Tunisian, so we had a civil ceremony in his home country in 2016," adds Emma. "We didn’t have any of my family with us apart from my mum and a friend, so we decided to have a blessing in the UK for our seventh anniversary with everyone who couldn’t travel to Tunisia."
