Amy and Alex met at work. “I think looks were the initial attraction, and I loved how good Alex was with his son,” says Amy. “Alex proposed while we were skiing in Les Gets, France, in April 2022. We were at a friend’s charity event, and by pure coincidence, I actually won the raffle and had to go on the stage. As I looked around, Alex was coming towards me and getting down on one knee. This was really out of character, as Alex is really shy and doesn’t like attention. He had gotten the DJ to play my favourite song. It was so lovely to be there with most of his family watching. I then rang all my family and friends back in the UK in hysterical tears, showing off my beautiful ring!”

Harriet and David met through mutual friends. “We lived in neighbouring villages and when a friend shared our numbers, we started texting,” says Harriet. “I had absolutely no interest in David to begin with, then he convinced me to go on a date with him, to which I reluctantly agreed. He made me laugh like no one has before and that was it! We’ve been inseparable ever since! We definitely believed we were each other’s other half and it’s still the same nine years later!”
David proposed in January 2022. “We bought our first home together in February 2021 and got our first dog, Otis, in October 2021,” shares the bride. “I decided I wanted to take Otis on his first ever beach day. Little did I know, my ring was sitting in David’s pocket the whole time! David found a little quiet area of the beach and got down on one knee! I always joke that he never listens, but he clearly does! I have mentioned through the years that if he ever was to propose that it would have to be a Clogau ring, as I’m Welsh and incredibly proud of it. I immediately said ‘yes’ and we started planning straight away!”

Healthier choice prosecco and sparkling rosé brand ThinK Wine has announced that its retro VW Campervan can now be used for weddings. It’s available to hire with or without staff, serving up not just any prosecco but low-sugar, vegan, organic wines that taste amazing while retaining all of the percentage volume.
ThinK Wine founder Kath Jones tells us: “Until now, we’ve been using the van for festivals and at venues that want to make a ‘wow’ moment of their welcome drinks. But we’re ready to start hiring her out for weddings, engagement parties and hen dos in the North West, and we couldn’t be more excited. The van is so gorgeous. It makes the ideal backdrop for wedding photos, especially when dressed in flowers to match your colour scheme. It’s the perfect Instagrammable moment! Not only does our van look absolutely stunning in pictures, but you can, of course, serve up our delicious low-sugar prosecco and sparkling rosé to guests as an arrival drink at your venue. The benefits of serving ThinK Wine at your wedding include the fact that it’s fully vegan, organic and low-sugar, but with all the taste and the same 11% ABV. Plus, it’s low in sulphites too, which means less of a hangover for your guests the next day. There’s no minimum spend in terms of the wine, and we can add on dressing and décor to suit your vision if required. We can send our staff along, or if you’d prefer to use the staff at your chosen venue, that’s fine too. We want it to be flexible and accessible for everyone. And if, for some reason, the van doesn’t capture your heart, then you can just order our delicious wines in cans, bottles or minis instead. They’re perfect for hen dos, engagement parties, spa days and, of course, weddings too.”

As a new business owner, about to embark on her fi rst styled shoot, Laura Bond from Belle knew she needed a location that was unique and visually stunning, a place to immediately captivate anyone who saw it. She scoured countless venues on her quest and while each had its own charm, none matched her vision. That is until she discovered E. Street Bar and Grill, a hidden gem with striking décor and a sleek, stylish backlit bar. “I knew I'd found the perfect place from the photos alone,” she explains. “I reached out to the venue manager and was thrilled when she enthusiastically agreed to host my shoot.” Laura was delighted too when she was offered Ryde House in addition for the bride and groom preparation. The two venues, alongside The Angel Inn are owned under the collective name of Petworth Places and are all stylishly decorated with bucket loads of charm and character.
With the venue secured, Laura set about creating a mood board focusing on an intimate, elegant wedding with a romantic ambience. To complement the venue, she opted for a neutral palette accented with greens and pops of peach.
“The final outcome was everything I'd hoped for and more,” Laura tells us. “We were also delighted to have Sophia and her real life partner Tom as our model couple. We staged a fi rst look for them, and their emotions and reactions were absolutely genuine. Their connection really brought the shoot to life in a special way. What made the experience even more incredible was the team of suppliers I had the privilege to work with. Their creativity and dedication brought my vision to life. It wouldn't have been the same without their support and talent.”

While Pia and Joe were aware of each other at school, nothing happened between them until they were old enough for a bit of Dutch courage, and met up at a pub five year's after leaving. “Although we weren't high school sweethearts, meeting in our early 20s felt like the right time for both of us to have this forever thing going,” Pia explains. “It's funny because even when we started dating, Joe said he didn't want anything too serious. Obviously that didn't quite go to plan!”
While away on holiday in Dominican Republic in 2023, the couple stayed in the adults only Secrets Hotel in Punta Cana. Since they both love the beach they booked a romantic dinner there during golden hour, surrounded by lit candles and hearts drawn in the sand. While there, Pia noticed a bride who'd just been married on the beach. When she turned back to Joe she found him holding out his great grandmother's ring. “That could be you one day,” he said, popping the question. “It was a girl's perfect dream,” Pia remembers. The next day the couple began to celebrate and share the news with their nearest and dearest. “I was so detached from reality that I went to breakfast with my dress on inside out and back to front,” Pia laughs.
Already nearly a decade into their relationship, the couple weren't interested in a long engagement so they started looking for wedding venues as soon as they got home. On the hunt for something as local as possible, Joe found the beautiful Old Oak Farm, which was having its new barn built at the time. Even though it wasn't 100 per cent complete when they viewed it they found themselves squeezing each other's hands with excitement during the visit and immediately cancelled their other venue appointments. “It gave us all the amazing feels and we just knew it was where we'd become husband and wife,” Pia explains.

Chloe and John first laid eyes on each other at work. “Chloe complemented my car one morning as we were arriving to work,” says John. “We spoke briefly and I rushed into work, not fully embracing her comment. We then met again during a work party. I set my eyes on her and thought she was lovely, but that I had no chance – not in my league! That turned out to be a false assumption and in summer 2016, we started exchanging messages and we went from there!”
John proposed on Christmas Eve. “We were warm and cosy at home by the Christmas tree,” shares the groom. “I think I surprised her by getting down on one knee and asking her to be my wife.”
“I worked at Hintlesham Hall Hotel for nine years overseeing weddings,” explains John. “We looked at several venues, but once we visited Hintlesham Hall Hotel, we agreed it had to be there. It’s a stunning, majestic location and I don’t think you can do any better. Tracy at the Hintlesham Hall Hotel gave us a tour of the beautiful hall and discussed all the highlights and what to expect to make our day as perfect as it was. We cannot thank Tracy, Yuriy, Jade and John enough for looking after us and all our guests for helping us have the best day of our lives!”

Melissa and Brandon met when her college began working with Brandon’s work to learn about business studies. “I came across his profile six months later and we matched on Tinder,” says Melissa. “We went on our first date and we have been inseparable ever since. It just felt really natural to be in one another’s company.”
The couple had been together for just over seven years when Brandon proposed. “I chose my engagement ring and Brandon organised everything else,” shares the bride. “I knew he was going to propose while we were in Rhodes, Greece, but I didn’t know when exactly.”
“When it came to our venue, I wanted something cosy and welcoming with attention to detail,” explains Melissa. “We had visited a few local venues, but they just didn’t feel quite right. When we visited The Glass House, we both agreed straight away that it was ideal in terms of atmosphere and as it was close to home, it was the perfect fit. The pricing was clear and the whole day was so easy to plan. The wedding coordinators were fantastic to liaise with in finalising all of the details. We met a lot of our suppliers at the venue’s showcase, so it was nice to chat with them and get a good feel for what the day would be like.”

Local celebrant, Karina O’Donnell, shares her tips for creating a Halloween-themed wedding.
"Having an outdoor wedding on Halloween is not for the faint-hearted. I recommend that you wrap up warm, use lots of different-sized candles and consider holding your wedding ceremony in close proximity to the warmth of a huge bonfire. This will not only create an enchanting atmosphere but will also keep you and your guests from getting cold for the duration of your wedding.
"Ask your guests to bring a carved pumpkin with them. These could be placed with candles lit to enhance your aisle as well as around your ceremony area. Walking up the decorated aisle to a hauntingly beautiful classical piece of music will add an atmospheric and dark twist too.
"There are also plenty of creative ways to include Halloween within your ceremony script, including the use of themed readings, poems or quotes from your favourite Gothic literature and films written within your vows. If you’re choosing a hand-tying or sand ceremony, you could use orange, black and other dark colours."
